Cinematic style photography replicates the aesthetic of film cinema. This is achieved by using the same techniques found in most films such as use of composition, symbolism and other visual languages for narrative purposes. This style often uses low light just as films do to better suit dark theatres.
Photoshoots with me have a good balance of being both casual and professional. Every model is different and may require various styles of direction. Throughout my shoots, I make sure to get to know my models well and bring their personality to the frame. This also helps me find the best ways to keep the shoot relaxed, fun and comfortable.
Engagement photoshoot with Nins and Raf.
This was incredibly fun to shoot! Their natural affection towards each other was a joy to capture. This shoot was inspired by traditional Filipino aesthetic. I truly look forward to shooting more couples in the future!
Months after the engagement shoot, wedding day finally came! In collaboration with Cana Project (canaprojecy.com.au), we captured the sweetest of moments to immortalise the memories of one of the biggest days of this couple’s lives.
Rain Room was an art installation that emulated rain in a closed indoor space. The room was dark, only illuminated by one bright light on one wall. I love the dramatic and cinematic quality it gave with its minimalistic lighting. Shooting in the rain can be quite difficult but Rain Room gave me this amazing opportunity and I did my best to make the most of it.
Imaginaria in Melbourne.
The installations inside Imaginaria provided a strange futuristic atmosphere. While it was fun to shoot inside, we also took the opportunity to shoot at few other locations nearby.
A themed photoshoot with a strong futuristic sci-fi influence. For this shoot we utilised the strange buildings, structures and overall unique look of Melbourne.
Collaboration with a local dancer.
The idea was to capture the poses in between the dancer’s movement. Shooting a moving subject can be a challenge but this allowed for some very interesting and unique poses.
Short series of images taken at home during quarantine.
A collection of photos taken while out on walks or out with friends. Unlike the other collections, this one is comprised of unplanned captured moments. Collections like this one is a reminder to always bring your camera with you because you never know when something will catch your eye.
Collaboration with Annie&Lori.
It’s a pleasure to be able to help this business expand in Australia. They guided me throughout the shoot and helped provide location ideas. They were already familiar with my style, but I made sure to stay adaptable to shoot what works best for their brand.
